FROM THE DIRECTOR

Since the beginning, the critically acclaimed short SOLEDAD IS GONE FOREVER has been part of our short to feature strategy. Our goals were two fold: to raise awareness about human rights violations during the Pinochet regime and to build an audience for our feature film project.
SOLEDAD IS GONE FOREVER is a story about a brave young woman haunted by her past who seeks the truth about herself, her family and her country to bring peace to her life. In that sense, the short was a great visual laboratory that enabled me to discover the storylines that would later be fleshed out in the feature script. The story embodies not only the plight of the Chilean people, but also symbolizes a Latin America seeking to confront the legacy of political violence and pursue healing at both the individual and societal level.

We are currently looking for an experienced executive producer to be part of this powerful story and help raise financing for the film.

PROJECT SUMMARY

SOLEDAD, a Chilean-born American photographer, is shocked to learn that her father MANUEL’s remains have been found in a mass grave. Her mother DELIA maintains that he died naturally. Soledad journeys to Chile to search for his killer, but finds the facility holding Manuel’s remains, on strike. Determined to investigate his death, she enlists the aid of political activist EDUARDO, is tailed by army Major ARANZABAL, and learns disturbing secrets from FATHER FABIAN and journalist JARAMILLO. As Soledad draws closer to the truth, the shadowy GENERAL MANRIQUEZ orders Aranzabal to kill her. After a DNA test reveals that Manuel was not Soledad’s father, she is shattered to discover that Aranzabal killed Manuel over his passion for Delia, and he is her father.
